Scott Thompson

After "The Kids in the Hall" Scott Thompson went on to write and star in the feature film “Brain Candy,” and appeared as a regular on "The Larry Sanders Show" as 'Brian,' Hank Kingsley’s assistant. In addition, he played a recurring role as 'Elliot' the dog baker on NBC’s "Providence". Lately, Scott has been touring as a stand-up comic and appearing in such series as "Reno 911," "Tim and Eric Awesome Show”, “Carpoolers”, as well as the role of Jimmy Price on two seasons of the NBC series “Hannibal,” and is one of the leads on CraveTV’s new show "What Would Sal Do?"

Wendy Liebman

Wendy Liebman has been a regular on late night television, including Carson, Fallon, Letterman, Kimmel, Ferguson and Leno and recently, she made it to the semifinals of America’s Got Talent. She has done 1/2 hour specials for HBO and Comedy Central, and her first hour, “Wendy Liebman Taller on TV” premiered on Showtime 11/11. Wendy has been in two documentaries: “The Aristocrats,” and “The Boys: The Sherman Brothers’ Story,” and she was the recipient of The American Comedy Award for Best Female Comedian. Wendy currently co-hosts UNBOUND with Terri Nunn, on KCSN, 88.5 FM in Los Angeles.

Debra DiGiovanni

Debra DiGiovanni has been called the “Best Comedian to see after a Messy Break Up” and for three years running-she was named Canada’s favorite female comedian. In addition to 2 Canadian stand up specials for CTV/Comedy network, she appeared on Comedy Central’s “Live at Gotham” and was a finalist on NBC’s hit show Last Comic Standing. You can often hear Debra on CBC radio’s ‘Debaters’ program but you likely know her as a nationwide favorite on the hugely popular Much Music show ‘Video On Trial’, or on the comedy network’s revival of Match Game, where Debra is a popular panelist.

Tim Nutt

Tim Nutt is a comedian who can’t be judged by his cover. Long-haired, bearded and “rough around the edges”, audiences expect Nutt’s material to match. But he surprises with razored down punch lines and well conjured up premises that place him as one of the top comedians working today. At one of his appearances at the Just for Laughs Gala, he was named one of the “Best of the Fest” and reviewers asked “where have they been hiding this guy?” The answer – in comedy clubs across North America where Tim has established himself as a top-draw for the past 18 years.

Andrew Grose

Andrew Grose is a Canadian comedy veteran with some of the most impressive credentials in the country. With almost 25 years in the business, Andrew has appeared at Just For Laughs 8 times as well as multiple times at the Halifax, Moncton, St. John, Medicine Hat and Winnipeg Comedy festivals. Andrew has shared the stage with Joan Rivers, Dave Thomas and Rob Schneider. He has also been featured on countless television specials and has now taken his comedy to the air. He can be heard every weekday from 2 until 6 on 630 CHED’s Afternoon News. Did we mention he produces the Edmonton Comedy Festival?

Ben Proulx

Ben Proulx has entertained audiences across North America with his raw, "say it as it is" style. He has been featured on CBC television and radio, on ShawTV, and has performed at the Las Vegas World Series of Comedy, The Calgary Comedy Festival, and the Okanagan Comedy Festival, as well as having performed for the Canadian troops. Ben can also be seen in TV shows including Fargo, Hell on Wheels, and Heartland, and was in the Oscar Award-winning movie The Revenant. His podcast, 30minuteweek was named Edmonton's Best Podcast by Vue Weekly, who also named Ben as Edmonton's Best Comedian.

Darcy Michael

Dominating the Canadian Comedy scene for 10 years, Darcy Michael continues to prove his voice is one like no other. Pegged by the Montreal Gazette as one of their favourites at the prestigious Just for Laughs Festival – he has gone on to appear there for 5 consecutive years. With 10 national televised Gala’s and his own half hour special on Comedy Network, Darcy is in high demand. Twice nominated for a Canadian Comedy Award, Darcy’s edgy but personable approach has also earned him numerous appearances on Comedy Network’s Match Game, the Winnipeg Comedy Festival, and regular appearances on CBC Radio’s ‘The Debaters.‘

Dave Nystrom

Dave Nystrom has performed all over the world, including the United Kingdom, HBO's prestigious US Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, Colorado, filmed a stand up special for Comedy Central in New York and his own one hour TV special for the Canadian Comedy Network. He is a writer for CBC’s “This Hour has 22 Minutes” and has won a Canadian Comedy Award and a Writer’s Guild of Canada Award. He has also written for National Lampoon, wrote the special features on the Anniversary Blu-Ray Edition of the cult movie “Office Space”, and filmed a pilot for VH1.

David Dempsey

Born in Ireland raised in Austrailia and now living in Canada, David Dempsey has led a full life at such a young age. Once you get by the crazy accent David will entertain you with his stories and life experiences. His credits include the Ireland Comedy festival, The Edmonton Fringe Festival and the Vancouver Comedy Festival.

Drew Behm

Drew Behm is a comedian who grew up in Edmonton but now makes his home in Toronto. As a writer, Drew's satire is regularly featured on the CBC's Comedy website. As a standup, he has had the pleasure to share the stage with comics such as Hannibal Buress, Gerry Dee, and Jay Pharoah. Drew has also made appearances at the Hubcap Comedy Festival, the Border City Comedy Festival, and was a semifinalist in the Seattle International Comedy Competition. Drew's comedy can also be heard regularly on Sirius XM satellite radio.

Elvira Kurt

Elvira Kurt is a Canadian Comedy Award winning, 3 time Gemini Award nominated stand-up comic and Second City veteran, who’s starred, hosted appeared in and or written for too many TV shows and comedy specials to mention. Except for these: “SpinOff”, a game show hosted by Elvira on Canadian and U.S. television, “George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight”, as a writer and comedy panelist, “Cook’d”, a kids vs adults cooking competition on YTV, “The Game”, a scripted tween show starring Samantha Bee, “Popcultured with Elvira Kurt” on The Comedy Network, and The Gayest Show Ever which won Best Pilot at the Banff World Television Festival.

Jess Salomon

Jess Salomon is a former UN war crimes lawyer turned stand up comic. Jess’s festival credits include Just for Laugh’s OFFJFL and ZOOFEST, The Winnipeg Comedy Festival, San Francisco Sketchfest, the Laughing Skull Festival, the Boston Comedy Festival, the Cape Fear Comedy Festival, Odd Block, and the Ice Breakers Festival. She’s been on CBC’s The Debaters, she was a semi-finalist in SiriusXM’s Top Comic competition. Her writing has appeared in VICE and The Beaverton and her stand up has been featured on SiriusXM’s Canada Laughs and CBC’s Laugh out Loud.

Ken Hicks

Ken has played at Caroline’s Comedy Club on Broadway in New York City, as well as The World Series Of Comedy in Las Vegas. Ken feels blessed to have shared the stage with some of comedy’s legends such as Tommy Davidson (In Living Color), Harland Williams, and Mike MacDonald.

Kerry Unger

Kerry has appeared at several Canadian comedy festivals including the Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal. His television credits include two seasons as the head writer and a cast member of “Gutterball Alley” and an hour long “Comedy Now!” You may have caught him on CBC Radio’s “Madly Off In All Directions”, or as a regular on the XM Satellite Radio’s comedy channel. He is the only comedian that has ever or will ever use as a credit the fact that he was the subject of a feature article in Reader’s Digest. He is from right here in Edmonton and has never cheered for the Calgary Flames.

Kevin Stobo

Kevin Stobo has appeared at Just For Laughs and several of his gala moments have been featured on the CBC comedy special “Best of Just For Laughs” Kevin has appeared in several national television commercials including Subway and Telus. He was a recurring character on the television series “Honey I Shrunk The Kids” and hosted the nationally syndicated television shows “Style for Men” and “Inside Movies” and “Inside Entertainment.” Kevin is currently a regular on “The DVD Show” and “Men’s TV” as well as serving as the co-host of the “Star TV Network.”

Lars Callieou

Lars has compiled and impressive list of comedy credits including a comedy special currently airing on the Comedy Network, appearances at the Just for Laughs and Halifax Comedy Festivals and his comedy radio show was nominated for a 2011 Canadian Comedy Award. He's been on CBC's The Debaters, XM Radio and Shaw Cable. He was a finalist in the Seattle International Comedy Competition. He’s traveled to IRAQ and Kuwait to entertain our troops and has appeared at Portland’s Bridgetown Comedy Festival and the Boston’s Comedy Festival as well as playing Brad Garrett's comedy club in Las Vegas.

Liam Creswick

For four years, Liam has been sharing his witty, absurd, and endearingly esoteric brand of comedy with audiences all over western Canada. Liam is a member of the YEGDnD improv show, mostly notably as Quinton, the Elven Ranger, in last year’s Edmonton International Fringe Festival.

Lisa Alvarado

Lisa Alvarado, The Latin Queen of Comedy, is Tina Fey meets Sophia Vergara. Lisa brings the funny with clever wit and a sassy fun attitude; relatable and quirky, using her own life as the punch line. Lisa’s television appearances include: NBC’s "Last Comic Standing", Nick at Nite’s "Funniest Mom in America 2", "Comics Unleashed" with Byron Allen, "Stand Up in Stilettos" on TV Guide Network, NuvoTV, and many more. Lisa also played Paul Rodriguez’s sidekick on 20 episodes of "Mis Videos Locos" on the MTV Network. Ms. Alvarado was voted "Best Up & Coming Latino Comedian" by The LA Comedy Festival.

Lori Gibbs

In addition to a Comedy Now! national special, the Winnipeg Comedy Festival, the Hubcap Comedy Festival, the Calgary Comedy Festival, CBCs Laugh Out Loud, SheDot Festival and being a regular on CBC’s The Debaters, Lori was nominated as Best Standup Comic at the Canadian Comedy Awards this past year. She’s also on the pop culture panel on Alberta Primetime and a popular headliner at comedy clubs across Canada.

Mike Dambra

With over 25 years in the business, Mike has become a comedy staple and a club favorite across both the United States and Canada. Mike has toured with such acts as Rosie O’Donnell, Adam Sandler, Chris Rock and Howie Mandel. He’s also opened for Michael Bolton, Joan Jett, Leon Redbone and has even appeared on "The Jerry Springer Show." The Calgary Sun said of him: "Brush up on your sit-ups before you see this show, otherwise your stomach muscles will hurt the next day…" If you're a comedy fan and you haven't seen Mike before, you're in for a treat.

Sean Lecomber

Sean was the winner of the Just for Laughs homegrown competition in 2007 and returned in 2013 to film his first Just for Laughs television gala. Sean’s other festival appearances include 2009 and 2011 Halifax Comedy Festival as well as the Winnipeg Comedy Festival in 2013. Sean has written for This Hour Has 22 Minutes, has had his comedy featured on the Tonight show with Jay Leno and is a two time Canadian comedy award nominee. His work can also be heard on CBC radio’s Debaters program and XM Radio.

Lilith Fair

Lilith Fair is the co-creator of the House of HOMO-CIDAL, artistic director of 50% Fruit Productions, the WINNER of the 2016 Alberta's Drag Superstar competition, and three time WINNER of "Best Local Comedian" in Vue Weekly Magazine's "Best of Edmonton" edition. Lilith has opened for several of the leading names in the Drag industry and was also an opening act for Canadian rock goddess, PEACHES on her most recent Canadian tour. Lilith can most commonly be found performing at Evolution Wonderlounge; but also regularly performs as a cast member at Celebrations / Jubilations Dinner Theatre in Winnipeg, Edmonton, and Calgary.

Phileas Flash

For the past 13 years international award winning balloon twister Phileas Flash has been capturing hearts worldwide with his brilliant brand of balloon art, charming comedy and crazy magic. Armed only with a little wit, a lot of talent and a big bag of balloons he's traveled all over the globe and amazed audiences everywhere from Iceland to Egypt, Australia to Dominican Republic and everywhere in between. Phileas has performed for Hollywood celebrities, twisted balloons for dukes and duchesses and frequently appears on television. Arrive early to catch him before every gala show at our festival.

The Great Balanzo

Aytahn Ross is a comic gentleman known for his silly elegance, his authenticity and his charm. He is a classically trained actor, whose passion for circus & comedy have made him one of Canada’s top circus personalities. A contemporary vaudevillian who presents a gourmet mix of circus & comedy that’s been seen live by more than a million people around the world over the last 20 years. His performances include repeat invitations to the Just for Laughs Festival Galas and Tours, VIP Events on Parliament Hill, and a command performance for Canada’s Governor General.
